The Capitol always seems to be a great subject for me to photograph. This picture was taken at about 7AM in the morning. I actually got over to the Capitol and setup by 6:15AM, it’s always best to get to your location early so you have plenty of time to setup and make sure everything is working ok. I wasn’t sure if this morning I’d have a good sky though. The entire sky was covered in clouds, but luckily as it started getting brighter out there were patches breaking through the cloud cover. That provided the nice detail texture that you see here.
The Capitol is busy setting up the structure for the presidential inauguration in 2013. You can see some of that going on in the photo. The final image has an incredible amount of detail, you can see it in the zoomable version below:
