Took this picture of the Air and Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington DC a couple of days before the super moon in May of 2012.

The Air and Space Museum is one of the more popular museums on the National Mall.  It is part of the Smithsonian Institute which includes a number of museums and art galleries on the National Mall.  It houses the world’s largest collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft.  In front of the National Mall entrance to the building is the Ad Astra sculpture, which is latin for “to the stars”.  The night I took this image was a couple of days before the super moon in May of 2012.  I was able to capture this image as the moon illuminated the Ad Astra causing the stars to light up.
