Every time I go out to Skyline Drive there’s always this old tree along the drive that I notice. The tree always looks to be out of place, different then the other trees along the drive.
A lot of the reason I notice the tree is how jagged it looks. The limbs of the tree don’t seem to come out smoothly like other trees, they are more squared off, angular. Because of this it always stands out.
Back in the fall I went out very early in the morning to take pictures of the sun rise from Skyline Drive. After the sun had crossed the horizon I started driving along the drive. It’s a beautiful drive early in the morning with the warm/golden sun light illuminating the mountain. Around one corner I saw my familiar friend, the old tree. As I drove past it I turned to look at it and noticed how nicely it silhouetted against the early morning sky. I quickly found a spot that I could turn around and went back to photograph the old tree.
