Another photograph looking out over Los Angeles, CA from the Griffith Observatory. The other photograph, LA At Night, was at night time with the city glowing in the valley below. This photograph was taken later that morning as the sun was getting close to crossing the horizon.
As I said when I posted the other photograph of LA At Night, if you have a chance to watch the sunrise from Griffith Observatory, plan a trip there! The sunrise is pretty amazing to watch. I changed where I was standing between this image and the night one. For this image I moved to being on one of the walkways that go around the back of the observatory. From there I could get more of the mountains on the left which I knew I wanted in the sunrise shot. As the sun got closer to crossing the horizon, the mountains silhouetted nicely against the vibrant red/orange/pink colors of the sky. Further up the sky kept its deep blue color. All this nicely balanced with the city lights below.
