The peak for the blossoms finally happened yesterday and I was able to make it there for the sunrise. I decided to do an image like my ‘Night Blossoms’ from last year, which is why I named this one ‘Night Blossoms 2014‘.
Every year the National Park Service predicts the peak bloom period for the cherry blossoms in Washington DC. For 2014 they are predicting it to be April 8th to the 12th. But looking at the pictures I took of the trees yesterday (April 2nd) and the information on the NPS website, that might be a tad early.
This will be the last of the cherry blossom pictures for this year! Although since it was so early in the morning the blossoms aren’t that easy to see.
As promised, more photos from the cherry blossoms in Washington DC!
After a long wait, the cherry blossoms finally arrived!
This is what the current cherry blossoms look like on Friday March 29, 2013. The National Park Service website says that the peak bloom will be April 3rd to the 6th. Since there’s not much to see right now, I went back through my photos from 2012 and found some more to post to hold people over till the blossoms finally appear for 2013!
Hope everyone is ready for the cherry blossoms. It’s only a couple of weeks away before they make their appearance yet again!

The Tidal Basin around the Jefferson Memorial isn’t the only place in Washington, DC that has beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom every spring. There are lots of little areas here and there that have cherry tress that also bloom. One area is the Washington National Cathedral. On the side of the Cathedral is a garden area with a bench outside a stone wall. Over this bench is a large tree that was just full of blossoms. Made for a very interesting artistic HDR picture.
There’s something very different about seeing the cherry blossoms in Washington DC at night:
The cherry blossoms in Washington DC are in full swing! The peak has been this week and it’s been better than a lot of previous years. Before it always seemed like right around the peak we’d get some rain or very windy days and the blossoms would fall off the tress quickly, but luckily, not this time!
