I took this photograph of Memorial Bridge with the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument in the distance Friday afternoon after a storm had passed through the area.
Originally I was going to Roosevelt Island to photograph Key Bridge, but the water was too high. The rocks I need to get out onto so that the hanging tree limbs weren’t in the shot were covered by the high water. So I left Roosevelt Island and walked the bike path that goes along the Potomac River. From there you can get a nice view across the river of the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument in the background. You can also see the detail in the Arlington Memorial Bridge that crosses from Arlington National Cemetery to DC.
Using the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens I was able to capture a lot of detail in the monuments and the bridge. Zoomed in at 100% you can read the state names around the top of the Lincoln Memorial:
