While it might be a little hard to tell in this Lincoln Memorial reflection, part of the water in the reflecting pool was frozen!
The weather in Washington DC has gotten hot again the past couple of days. We were spoiled there for a while, the temperature outside almost felt like fall! After getting used to the really nice weather it was hard having to go back to the heat and humidity. I decided that maybe if I posted a picture that was taken when it was cold out it’ll bring back the nicer weather!
This photograph was taken last December on a very cold morning. Part of the water in the reflecting pool had frozen over. If you look closely at the bottom you can see what looks like ripples in the water. It’s actually ice on top of the water. Just above that is nice smooth unfrozen water that reflected the memorial back. And as always, when it’s cold out, I almost never have to worry about tourists in my shot!
