Every year the National Park Service predicts the peak bloom period for the cherry blossoms in Washington DC. For 2014 they are predicting it to be April 8th to the 12th. But looking at the pictures I took of the trees yesterday (April 2nd) and the information on the NPS website, that might be a tad early.
While it’s not a real castle, it’s the closest thing to a castle that’s in Washington DC!
During the early morning hours the area around the National Gallery of Art on the mall is pretty quiet.
This was taken early last month. On a day when there were clear blue skies and the temperature out wasn’t as hot as it has been.
You would think this photograph was taken in some southern state with the hanging branches of the tree. But it was actually taken in Washington DC.

I’ve spent the last two days down at the Tidal Basin taking pictures of the cherry blossoms. For those that aren’t in the Washington DC area or didn’t get a chance to see them, I’ve put up some from my trip down yesterday.
