Hope everyone is ready for the cherry blossoms. It’s only a couple of weeks away before they make their appearance yet again!
The official bloom schedule from the National Park Service puts the peak bloom time to be March 26th to March 30th. If you want to come to the DC area to see the cherry blossoms, now you know the dates to plan! Every year it’s a little different, some years the blossoms will be on the trees for about a week, other years the best blooms can be seen for about a day. The reason for that is some years we’ll get some heavy rain and wind during the peak blossom time and they get knocked off the trees. But, that just means the ground all around the tidal basin becomes pink/white from all the blossoms lying around!
This photograph was taken last year during the peak. I spent the day walking around the tidal basin taking pictures last year. I also went back at night time too. If you’ve never seen the cherry blossoms at night and you get a chance to, go over and see them. It makes for a very relaxing and calm walk around the tidal basin!
