Always Look Down – A Capitol Reflection

Always Look Down - A Capitol Reflection

I went to the US Capitol the other morning to take pictures during the sunrise.  The night before it had been raining out and there were small puddles of water around.  While walking around taking pictures I came across this reflection.

If you are out taking pictures after a rain storm you definitely want to look down at the puddles to see if there’s anything interesting.  Mirroring your main image or even making the focal point of the image be the reflection as in this image, adds an element of interest to the photograph.

In the background of the photograph you can see a lot of the scaffolding that’s being put up to build the stands that will be used during the inauguration in 2013.

Equipment used for this photo:
Canon 5D Mark III
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS Lens
Slik 700DX Tripod
Bogen 3030 3-way pan/tilt head
