A photograph of the quad at American University as the sun is slowly setting.
American University is located in Washington DC and was chartered by an Act of Congress on February 24, 1893. The entire 84-acre campus is a national arboretum and public garden, which you quickly get the sense of walking around the campus. Walking around the campus there are lots of little signs next to trees and plants informing you of the plants scientific name.
Because of all the trees on the quad it can be a little hard taking a photograph that shows all the buildings. There are lots of trees hiding the buildings! Here you can see the Battelle-Tompkins Memorial Building on the left and Hurst Hall on the right. At the end of the quad is the Kay Spiritual Life Center.
