Lincoln Memorial at Sunset
I took this picture of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC at sunset on a humid August night in 2008. The sun was setting and I was able to capture the brilliant blue and pink hue of the night sky. The colors didn’t last long in the sky, luckily I was able to get it before it got too dark. I have this picture printed hanging in my living room.
The full size image is of a higher resolution then most consumer cameras, it’s actually 55MP in size. Because of this the photo has more details then you’d normally see. The engraved state names around the top of the memorial can be easily read. Along the left side of the memorial a girl can be seen away from the tourists taking a picture.
The Lincoln Memorial was built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Construction started in 19212 and was completed in 1922. For tips on how to photograph the memorial see the page at PhotoTourism DC.
